No Data Corruption & Data Integrity
Learn what ‘No Data Corruption & Data Integrity’ implies for the data as part of your web hosting account.
Data corruption is the unintended modification of a file or the loss of information which usually occurs during reading or writing. The reason can be hardware or software failure, and due to this fact, a file may become partially or fully corrupted, so it'll no longer function correctly because its bits shall be scrambled or lost. An image file, for example, will no longer show a real image, but a random mix of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack as its content will be unreadable, and so on. If this kind of a problem occurs and it's not identified by the system or by an administrator, the data will get corrupted silently and if this happens on a drive that's a part of a RAID array where the data is synced between various different drives, the corrupted file shall be replicated on all other drives and the harm will be permanent. A large number of widely used file systems either don't offer real-time checks or don't have good ones which will detect an issue before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a common matter on internet hosting servers where large amounts of information are stored.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Cloud Hosting
We've resolved the problem of silent data corruption on our
cloud hosting servers by using the cutting-edge Z file system, or ZFS. The latter is more advanced than other file systems as it is the only one out there that checks all files instantly by using a checksum - a digital identifier that is unique for every single file. When you upload content to your account, it'll be stored on several NVMe drives and regularly synced between them for redundancy. ZFS constantly compares the checksum of all files and if any file is detected as corrupted, it's replaced right away with a good copy from some other disk. As this happens in real time, there's no risk that a bad file may remain or may be copied on the remaining NVMes. ZFS needs plenty of physical memory in order to execute the real-time checks and the advantage of our cloud website hosting platform is that we take advantage of multiple powerful servers working together. If you host your Internet sites with us, your information will be undamaged no matter what.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Hosting
We've avoided any possibility of files getting corrupted silently because the servers where your
semi-dedicated hosting account will be created use a powerful file system named ZFS. Its main advantage over other file systems is that it uses a unique checksum for each and every file - a digital fingerprint that's checked in real time. As we store all content on a number of NVMe drives, ZFS checks if the fingerprint of a file on one drive corresponds to the one on the rest of the drives and the one it has stored. When there is a mismatch, the damaged copy is replaced with a good one from one of the other drives and considering that this happens instantly, there's no chance that a damaged copy could remain on our hosting servers or that it can be duplicated to the other hard drives in the RAID. None of the other file systems work with such checks and in addition, even during a file system check after an unexpected power loss, none of them will detect silently corrupted files. In comparison, ZFS does not crash after an electrical power failure and the regular checksum monitoring makes a lenghty file system check obsolete.
